This is a month full of rich contests.
Today we’ll talk about XPOGames and its $18,000 cash and prizes contest
The chief of Management and PR wants to explain you all what’s hot at XPOGames:
XPOGames.com / Management and PR
We have issued an official Media Alert (or Press Release) last week which includes all the information regarding our present contest. Nevertheless, I will try supply you with bits of relevant information from within that Media Alert in this post:
XPOGames.com, a new gaming-based social network has just announced the launch of a new game development contest: the ‘$18,000 XPOser game development contest’ for the year 2008, open to each and every flash game developer world-wide. The contest is amongst the most luxurious contests ever published in the field, in-fact, the XPOser 2008 contest will award the highest cash prize ever to be awarded in an independent game development contest.
The contest will award a sub-total of $18,000 and features 3 categories: an Exclusive category which will award the grand-prize of $6,500, a Non-exclusive category which will award the first place out of ten with $4,500 and a Quantity category which will award 2 participants with $1,500 and a Nintendo Wii game console. All categories require the integration of the XPOGames toolkit into each of the uploaded submissions. Each developer will be able to sign-up and submit his/her games for approval and when a submission is approved it is counted as a legit contest entry.
Once a participant reaches 3 approved submissions it is automatically sent a free 1gb limited-edition XPOGames.com USB flash-stick, once a participant reaches 10 approved submissions it is automatically sent a free 2gb limited-edition XPOGames.com USB flash-stick, and once a participant reaches 20 approved submissions it is automatically sent a free 4gb limited-edition XPOGames.com USB flash-stick.
We’ve been getting really great and positive feedback on the contest, a lot of developers are wanting to participate and we’re already enjoying some of their creations. There are still 75 days left to go and many opportunities to win. Our contest staff will continue to post newsflashes, comments and answers to your questions on the feedback block at the lower section of the contest page. More information is available at the contest page. Stay tuned, all this is only the tip of the iceberg as the XPOGames.com community-website is preparing for its launch and will introduce a lot of new, unprecedented features to the gaming community.
As mentioned above, more information for your entry can be found at the contest page and the official Media Alert can be found at here
In addition, don’t hesitate to post your comments for any additional and specific information.
Tell me what do you think about this post. I'll write better and better entries.
They can be easily customized to meet the unique requirements of your project.

Wow! I’m in!
What do the entries have to be based on?
Unlike what they said, this isnt the biggest prize for an independent game competition, but still very nice prizes. Ill consider entering.
smells like ripoff…hundreds of exclusive games for only $18.000…it’s like buy 3 get 100+
Hm.. Sounds neat but their website was down whenever I checked. Not a good sign…
Interesting - But it seems strange to me that they’re putting a big emphasis on quantity over quality? Surely one great game is going to be better than 20 rushed out to get a free USB stick?
Dude!
$18,000 sounds unreal…I’ve been in the Flash games dev for 2 years know and beside line rider, never heard of such numbers…
I’m in for sure.
(Great blog, keep on!)
Cat, flash sticks are considered emphasis? come on, the grand-prize and 12 other prizes are awarded for quality criteria.
They’re just giving developers with a big bank of games the opportunity to get some treats for them.
Ciao Cari Emanuele
La ringrazio per l’aggiornamento. Io sono un sviluppatori, e io vincerĂ questo.
Ho bisogno di denaro
:-)
it’s a cheap way to get tons of games for only $18.000…
You might be right…nut it’s a great way to make money. I’ve developed 14 games in my life so far (Flash games), and got around $1000 for the work, and getting around $45 per month….:-(
I think 6500/4500 are great prizes!!
What about the games that don’t win prizes? Does the site keep them, and we’re SOL? It seems to me that this is just an attempt to gather up lots and lots games at little or no cost. I would enter only if I knew that after the winners are announced, I could remove my games that didn’t win.
they’ll keep the games for sure…it’s cheap content for their site…content->people->ad revenue..
I guess they’ll keep the games, however they offer a great business modal for game developers, rather than just Mochiads…
ArmorGames/ArcadeTown says: “Work hard on your game, make it sounds perfect, and we just might give you about $500, or not”.
Mochiads tells us- “man, people are stilling your games, at list put some adds, and make 1-2 dollars for it by the end of the month..”
xpogames says - “We hate Flash games developers can’t get the respect they should get, and therefor: We’ll run contests (where you can gain fame, money and experience/partners).we’ll give you 50% of the Google Adsense ads we’ll put around your game in our up coming social network for gamers and games developers, and we’ll also pick several developers 2 b our home developers…”
Mannn…a ripoff it’s not. They are pros.
Aussi
sorry dude…but most of the guys who send games to this contest will not win…and the games are exclusive..they can’t distribute the games where they want…they can’t implement mochiads etc..i did not find where they say u’ll get 50:50 ad revenue…sorry dude..watch http://www.fizzy.com they offer 50:50 adrevenue share without exclusivity!
guess they’ll keep the exclusive games.. but then again, they all do.
I wanted to participate in UGOPlayer’s contest not a while back and to be honest I was kind of drawn away from it because even if my game would not have won anything and was not up for sponsorship it was still published and playable on their contest page for who knows how long and that, obviously, can make a game’s sponsor-to-be think twice about how much they would pay for it.
I’ve come to this, if you wanna play the exclusive chance you should go for it, there’s tons of money in there, else, just upload the games you’ve already posted and sponsored and go for the lower but still nice prizes in the non-exclusive category, risk-free.
Guys, there’s too much talk about cheap ways to get games on here.. You should really look into websites that aggregate content without permission. the guys @ XPOGames are offering ROI, a community-website that you can hang-out and call a home to your games and frankly, one of the few gaming website that actually have a backbone to support it and can feature such contests even before they’ve launched, unlike many one hit wonders that are spread throughout the www and we’ve seen fall and go bankrupt.
just my 2 cents.. nih
Christian mate,
XPOGames don’t force exclusivity and not only that, they allow developers to keep MochiAds on their games AND they split revenues evenly (50%-50%) with each developer.
Educate yourself before you make false claims;
* http://www.xpogames.com/contests/GameUpload/GameUploadFAQ.php#q2
“XPOGames is able to give developers a chance to profit as a result of weeks of negotiations with Google. AdSense units are spread throughout game-pages and are split evenly (50%-50%) between the website and the developer. Each developer will have his own statistics page where he will be able to track profits. Payments are made-out via Google themselves. Regarding the amount of money you can make - it’s not a measureable number since it all depends on the amount of games you have on the site and the popularity of those games (i.e. how many people goto your game-pages). You can choose to get paid either by Check or EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) to a bank account of your choice. In addition, we hold monthly cash give-aways, contests, and more.. all in-order for you, the developer, to have the opportunities and to be able to profit as much as possible from your creations.”
if you implement mochi they’ll no share adsense revenue…if ur game is not new, never published etc. u cant take part in the $6.500 contest..iam sure most guys want the $6.500 cash but only 1 will get it..the rest just lose a game to this site for 5years

“The user may NOT distribute or publish the uploaded GAME without written consent of XPOGames for the duration of
“Exclusive game” is defined as a game which is uploaded to the ‘exclusive’ category contest and all of its legal rights belongs solely to the user. - “Game life” is defined as a period of 5 years starting at the uploading moment of an exclusive game to the XPOGames servers.”
Christian, as I said in my previous post, you do not have to compete for the exclusive prize, $4,500 is no small sum of money AND you get everything including MochiAds, AdSense and their cash giveaways/contests.
‘revengee’ I digg what you say…
You can choose to go for the $6,500 (and second/third place) if you need the money,
or
Go for the $4,500 if you think business! Because in the non-exclusive category you can win a lot of money, put Mochi, get sponsored (if at all), and make rev sharing with xpogames.com as they offer.
(BTW, Christian, don’t mix semi pro sites like Fizzy with things like xpogames, armorgames, newgrounds, mochiads etc).
Anyway, with 3 games you get a free USB stick….cool :-)
Wow!!
These are amazing prizes…so, can I take q quick lesson in few tips about how to start making a wining flash game?
Tnx!
