I need some of your experiences in order to build a case history section in this blog and for an article do be published on a paper magazine… and maybe for something else.

If you think this blog changed your way of developing and monetizing Flash games, or just made you love Flash game developing, then please leave a comment with your first name, the first letter of your last name and the Country you are from (example: Emanuele F. - Italy)

And, of course, your experience.

Thank you very much.

This is one of a few websites that I check regularly since deciding to get into flash development. I use sample code and ideas, and hopefully that will make for a much better end-product when I finally release something. :)

Well to start, this blog goes in to depth on the creation of many hit games, each tutorial contains nice, easy to understand notes; in order for the tutorial to be actually interpreted and to be learned from.

The blog gives inspiration to it’s users and teaches them on the majority of aspects on flash game development, which i believe to be a strong point on the blog as it contains a variety of different tutorials on different game genres.

The blog also has the monetizing games sections which are informative about distrubition of games and generally how to earn more money from games which you release, it’s a case study too, so everything that is contained within it is true and accurate so it’s inspiring and motivational to read; aswell as informative.

That’s my honest opinion anyway, i’d like to say thanks and keep up the good work Emanuele.

I’m not much of a Flash developer (more of a programmer), but with reading the great tutorials on this blog, I’ve taken some interest in Flash, and have learned alot of other things that I can apply to my coding elsewhere. The tutorials are very easy to understand, with everything spelled out with well-commented code and examples, and even ideas on how to further take the concept. I find it great how you show us all how to do the most abstract things of games that have become popular, and show how to put your own twist on the games.
Aside from just Flash, the information on monetizing just overall, and the small studies and tidbits of the web are very beneficial.

Love your work Emanuele, keep it up. =)

Your blog has inspired, nurtured and developed my ’skills’ as a Flash developer. You’ve helped with everything from starting to understand Flash to Monetising, something I’d never looked into before arriving here. You’ve provided another page to obsessively refresh throughout the day, and it’s great whenever I see a new post arrive. You speak for the developer!

Long story short: You, are, awesome.

Paper mag eh? Going up in t’world outside the internet then?

I use Flash for almost 3 years.
But I start using it only for animations intentions, and I wasn’t that good, at all.
So I started using my not-so-good programming skills to make some games, but it was pretty hard.
So I googled for ‘ActionScript game’ and on the first page I found the ‘Flash Game creation tutorial’ page. It was like a paradise, and with a source code!
And I’m here, everyday I check for an update of this awesome blog that stills amazing me :)

I’m a part-time freelance Flash game developer for probably over a year and learning flash closer to three. Full-time I’m at University studying animation which can link into my Flash game development.

I read your blog to see what interesting development is going on and try to incorporate it into my ideas and designs.
At the time of writing I have yet to use one of your tutorials or prototypes in a game but I still walk away happy because you write nerdy things that fascinate me.

I have more of a background in web development, and it keeps on growing; though I really am striving to focus on just Flash game development. I have done a time share reservation, a website for a golf course designer, a soon to be Flash portal website, etc. All using PHP, MySQl, etc

Anyways, your site has been an excellent resource for Flash game development and game ideas to say the least, there is so much one desired and hard working Flash developer can learn from your site. You have even inspired me to write a blog and share my experience hoping I can do the same for others as you did for me.

    Great site, don’t ever stop.

You taught me everything that i know about flash. I didnt take any extra classes or anything, i just check your site everyday and try to learn flash. Any problem i come up with, i just check your blog. I think i started learning flash about 8 months ago…im not sure. Anyway, dont ever take down this blog, its a goldmine for beginners.

Thanks for keeping this blog running so long.

The rapid prototyping and code sharing you use have inspired me to experiment and constantly refine my projects. I now look at why a hit game performs well, and think how similar mechanics could be changed and adapted for use with other ideas.

I also now comment my code well and often re-use functions across projects. In short, I’m a much better coder because of it.

This blog has constantly taught and inspired me. Thanks.

For me, building games was the easy part… the bit that scared me was the marketing and monetizing side of things. I think this blog has more than doubled my productivity in this area, and introduced me to some very valuable resources!

Thanks for sharing your experiences, and keeping us from falling down some very deep pits!

I’ve been following your blog for about a year now, and i cant express how much it’s helped, if it weren’t for you, I don’t think I would be interested in Flash today.

    Thanks for everything,
    keep up the good work!

You have helped me greatly with the more complicated aspects of Flash Game Development, those which aren’t explored on other sites, you also don’t patronise your viewers by explaining really simple things in a really obvious way. I admire that. Great site Emanuele, hope it keeps on getting better.

When I first found this blog, I knew nothing about flash. I started following your tutorials, and in one or two years I’ve already made 4 games, and earned a lot from them.

    Thanks!

    I’m a freelance Flash-PHP game developper since 4 years.

I was looking for help and advices on monetizing my own creations, and i found you and more than i expected. It’s really a great stuff to share your experience on all these domains. From my point of you, you can become a Flash game guru because you bet on a better future, not all closed source but collaborative, not trying to confine users but give them freedom and abilities to create. By the way, your Triqui.com doesn’t work on Firefox.

I wish you success and will keep an eye on you ;)

As a full time Computer Systems Engineer by trade and part-time/hobbyist in Flash game development your blog and tutorials have added greatly to my Flash game development knowledge and skills. I read the tutorials and learn new ways of doing things and/or new AS2 coding that I never knew. I now have used knowledge gained from your blog to develop two games and have several more that are in various stages of development. Now I need to work on the monetizing and marketing of the games better and will be reviewing again your monetizing blog entries to better monetize and market my own games.

Thanks for the great work and for sharing your knowledge and experiences with the world.

I started with flash after watching some animation from LegendaryFrog. I thought it was the coolest thing in the world, and I wondered how I could make one. My friend and I had no money, so we just worked using the 30 day trials of Flash (starting with Flash 5, and working up to Flash MX 2004). Then my neighbor heard about us and she had a copy of flash that her son owned. So I used that to have the full version. At this time, I realized that my animation sucked, so I decided to switch to games. My first games were “Click The Button” games…which were terrible. Then, I was searching for a website to make a Line Rider clone, and found this site. I then started looking at your other tutorials. I learned so much in so little time! Now, I’m currently monetizing my flash games and earning some money!

Thanks very much Emanuele for making this great site. I check it everyday and always look forwards to your tutorials.

When I found this website, I didn’t know anything about Flash. Your games and tutorials made me start developing my games. That was great.

    So, THANK YOU Emanuele!

Great blogg for motivation as well as for knowledge! Always a great source for inspiration and the only one that I’ve found so far that teaches how to create game clones (Even thought not all of them gets finished)
But I must say that providing the source files as well as showing examples, is a huge +!

So I’d say that this blogg is one of the best one that I’ve ever seen, but could be improved if you’d only take one project at a time, even though another seems more interesting, but that would just keep the motivation up for both finishing the current, as well as starting another one.

Thank you very much for making such a awesome blogg! Keep this alive!

Well, you are running by far the best flash-blog around. It’s full of heavily interesting topics about flash. Even though I’m a very bad programmer you lighten up my fire of trying hard to get better. I even picked the one or other tip to optimize my little income from developing games.

    What I intend to say?
It’s quite simple - I LOVE your blog dude.

    best wishes

Your first post “enlightened” me to Actionscript, it was the first ever tutorial that had worked and I’d understood. Now I understand most of what you do, but I always pick up on new techniques from you (saw you use switch and case) and your non-tutorial posts are always interesting!

I didn’t really think of flash as a way of making money. But after you started your monetizing flash games experiment, I also put in a couple of my games and found that it was possible. Your blog also helped me solve most problems I came across during flash game development. Good work. Keep it up.

Your blog inspired me to get back into game design. Your tutorials are clear, concise and most of the time very efficient. I view your blog at least once a week. It seems whenever I have a flash based problem, most of the time, I can find the answer here. Thank you :)
