Summer Couples: a game made in an airplane

Probably you did not notice it, but during the last days I enjoyed a trip to Ibiza, Spain.

One of the most interesting sides of being a PROgrammer is you can work from almost everywhere (although with a lot of limitations, as I will explain in a future post).

The flight connecting Venice to Ibiza lasts less than two hours, and the average passenger spends this time reading promotional magazines you can find in every airplane or trying to sleep while people talk, children scream and so on.

It’s not my case, so I opened my laptop (always ask to the flight crew before doing it!) and started working on the code published on Adding a new twist to the prototype of a Flash game like Poux.

The result is the “sequel” of Christmas Couples called Summer Couples.

Summer Couples

Being a game made in a quick, it scored an interesting 3.42 on NewGrounds

This game represents a milestone in my experiment (that I am going to update soon) because it’s my 10th game.

And if you can find only 9 games of mine in the web, it’s because I have an one-week game pending for sponsorship.

Full commented source code to be released

Once Summer Couples gets one million plays, I will release the full commented source code, including the snippets to interface the game to the most popular high score APis

So, play the game and enjoy summer.

If you draw aroud other symbols you can mathch two that are avery far away. i.e.

lets say o’s are crabs, r’s are life preservers and x’s represent the line you draw.
    _____xxxxxxxxxxxx
    xxxxxxxrrrr_rrrrx
    orr__________rro
if you draw a line like that (even though you’d be an idiot to not get the gorups of r’s) you will get the o’s I’m not sure if that was intentional if it was great job if not then I am sure it will be fixed
    regardless the game was awsome

When can you release the source code?

I need it. If you can help, how can I make the “tile” prototype on the first tutorial??? Like how can I make it come in waves. Can you redo the first tutorial in more detail?
