Distribute your Flash games worldwide with FlashGameDistribution
If you’re not a professional in marketing, one that loves to promote and sell games, pins, socks… whatever… Flash game marketing can be an hassle, or even a nightmare.
Unfortunately, if your game does not hit the frontpage of one of most popular portals spreading virally, you’ll have to manually submit your work to at least an hundred sites to earn some cash.
As said, it’s not a problem if you like marketing, just remember that every hour you spend in marketing cannot be spent in programming… or enjoying the summer.
That’s why I can’t wait for FlashGameDistribution (FGD from now on) to be released.
Still in a limited early beta, FGD is the last work from the creators of FlashGameLicense (read the review) and First Impressions (read the review).
FGD’s goal is assisting developers in distributing their flash games accross the internet, allowing developers to easily post their games to game portals, contact game portals, and automatically distribute their games to FGD partners.
The service will remain in beta until FGD crew will be able to count on a considerable amount of portals distributing the games through their API (I’ll review it later) and until some minor issues will be fixed.
Obviously this service is not only for developers but for portal owners too… they will be able to install an API that will automate game submissions.
I decided to test the service, as usual… this time on the developer side.
Once your developer beta account has been created, you can start distributing your games clicking on “Distribute a game”

Then you can choose if importing a game from FlashGameLicense or uploading the game from your computer.
At the moment this option does not work, so you can only import games from FGL

It’s time to select the game you want to import from FGL

Once you imported your game, you can edit some details such as categories, description and other common options, then it’s time to click on “Distribute Now” to get your game distributed

Now you have to add some more information about your game sponsorship (if any) and the compatibility with major portals highscores

… and finally… your game is being distributed!

As you can see, you will be able to distribute your game to a lot of portals in less than a minute. Something like hitting the frontpage on NewGrounds.
I can’t even imagine how many time (money! money!) I will save with this service, and I seriously can’t wait for FGD guys to release the service.
If you want to stay up to date in Flash game distribution revolution apply for the beta right now.
I’ll publish the results of the submission in about a month, and during this time I won’t market the game in any other way than FGD, to let you know how does it work.
Guess me luck…
Tell me what do you think about this post. I'll write better and better entries.
They can be easily customized to meet the unique requirements of your project.

How much would we have to pay for this service?
The service is free for both developers and publishers.
Been waiting for this kind of site for a long time. Kudos to Chris and the people at FGL for making this happen and thanks Emanuele for the great article, keep as posted as always.

Ammazing! I look forward to it!
Finally! Been waiting for this a lot!
Hmm…The image doesn’t work. This game was added automatically to my portal (http://z-fox.com/ - look under new games), but without an image. And from your screenshots it looks like the image didn’t work either. Do you know if this is a bug from FGL’s side?
Thanks for making this review Emanuele, I’m sure many developers will be excited for the opportunity to use FGD.
Sunil, thanks for the comment, it was a little error on our side but was fixed. The new version should work fine and have the thumbnail. Emanuele happened to push his game at the exact second we were implementing a new feature ;) This is why we’ll be letting in developers a little slowly over the next couple of weeks.
