Creation of a Flash arcade site using WordPress – step 6

Today I tested the beta plugin I introduced you in the Creating some hype… post and it worked fine.

It successfully imported all games and now I am looking for a good theme to finetune to transform the blog into an arcade site (do you know any good theme?)

Before asking you to test the portal, I’ll tell you what I have done until now and what is planned during next days.

Setup (completed): Running the setup worked fine, and it turns an empty blog into an arcade one, creating all categories and a new table.

Import (almost competed): This routine parses the Mochi feed and copies all games data into the table created during setup. The scripts obviously checks for duplicated entries… now I just have to made an auto import routine.

Publish (incomplete but working): The publish routine turns database entries into a real WP post. At the moment you can’t preview the game and you can’t choose wether to publish a game or not.

According to Games Freez suggestion, I dated the posts using the feed_approval_created date as the other 2 dates are back dated.

Now you can play and comment games, and I think letting players comment the game in a blog way will bring some interesting results.

Now I am waiting for your feedback and suggestions to improve the plugin before october 1st, the official release date.

This is working really well so far. I think it is awesome how you pretty much added over 10,000 games to your arcade site without any manual work.

I know it is in the early stages so far, but I think adding some plugins would make it look even more professional. You could use the ratings plugin to rate the games and the stats plugin for game stats and to show the highest rated and played games. Just an idea for later down the road.

This is going to be a great package. Thanks for all the hard work.

    Emanuele Feronato,

Thanks for accepting one of my suggestions.

I guess we are about to see floods of wordpress gaming sites coming online soon.

Is MochiAds server able to cope with the surge?

If MochiAds server goes down, all the games will not be able to play unless we download it and host it.

Really nice, one problem I noticed: the Latest MochiAds Games sidebar’s links aren’t working.

Oh wow. I have been following along step by step doing what your tuts say. Now, am I correct to think, that you will be launching this whole thing as a plugin and that I should just wait for that to be released here in October?

I just found this arcade template. Not sure if it’s what your looking for or not. Is it just that you just need a new design or whole new design and theme?
