Do we have any methods to get actual time (not tied to timeframe) in AS3?

Nice tutorial...but you don't actually say which one is correct?
I'm assuming it's the frame-based timer, but perhaps you should make this clear?

... and I should add - isn't it odd to call something that isn't really tied to time a timer? ;)

One more thing about the Timer class - They're totally dependant on EnterFrame events, so reduced framerate = reduced accuracy. If you set the framerate to zero, your timers will also stop.

(A framerate of zero can double the amount of MouseEvents Flash can send)

Hi Emanuelle. If you are prepared to sacrifice frequency for accuracy then you might want to try the AS3 Timekeeper class: http://www.computus.org/journal/?p=25 It ensures an accurate and consistent tick period, at a maximum periodicity of 10 ticks per second.

Hey Emanuelle, for my game I use the Timer Class and compare the interval with the current time of your computer.
