I just took another look at the service and saw you listened to the comments...It's much better now (Ads at bottom help alot)...I reckon don't push the max image size over 800px, but instead maybe resize bigger images with php if possible, and THEN process them...

I also like the design...simple and not distracting/too bright...

Nice work...but:
- Needs to support formats other than JPEG (PNG!).
- Needs to support an image bigger than 500px...most images these days are AT LEAST 800x600px.

If you could show us how to do this in flash/flex, that would be great!

oh, and if you could upload the image would be nice too....
(maybe the system can delete the image after 1 hour or 1 day to save resources)

My suggestions:
- It would be very useful if you could export/download the color palette in a standard format (photoshop/flash)
- it would be nice if you suggest some colors (contrast colors, invert, etc)

Regards

Nice tool.
The layout is a bit off imo, everything seems to be crammed in the upper left corner and half a page is empty (till you get your pic there), and with an adblock, 3/4 of the page is empty, with the tool itself shoved in the corner.
A notice when you try to do something on not working filetype or too big image (and 500 max is just pathetic) would be nice. And other filetypes if possible.

Cool. Here are my thoughts:

1) The ads turned me off immediately. They're too noticeable and distract from the service. I'd put them in a four column structure below the black band. Or do a less obtrusive banner ad here.

2) Visually, I'd center this and extend the tolerance bar and "Get Colors!" button to the width of the URL field. It looks cramp and hard to tell what to focus on.

3) The page title should be SEO related. (Know it just launched but wanted to share just in case...)

4) The restrictions should be above the black band, before the button. I used a PNG before I realized I couldn't.

5) The layout is cool. Is there a way to maximize the screen real estate, maybe generate 2 columns?

6) What would be very useful would be the ability to copy the full set of values and each individual value. I could care less about LAB, so some options to allow me select what I'd need would be handy too.

7) I'd add in some share, dig buttons. While I find them very tacky this is the kind of service people would spread the word about.

Great work!

Looks like a pretty cool little program. It could use a feature to let you use photos from your computer.
