About to relelase the forum

Today a server maintenance does not allow me to upload files… I have a dynamically generated tunnel for Metro Siberia Underground but you’ll have to wait until tomorrow to see it AFAIK.

Meanwhile I would like you to know I am going to release a forum to discuss about actionscript, Flash games, monetizations and so on.

I just need a little help with that “and so on”… at the moment the forum I created are:

Actionscript 2.0
Actionscript 3.0
Tutorials around the web
Photoshop
Flash monetization experiences

But I would like to take advantage of this dead day to know if you would like other forums.

At the question “why making a forum?” the reply is “to talk about everything can’t find a place in post comments with a proper engine (phpbb3)”

This page redirects to http://ewbyuno.com/cgi-bin/in.cgi?p=grobin that sometimes tries to install a component called "dexplore.exe", otherwise redirects to google.com

The funny thing is that when I googled for ewbyuno I found only two results

The domain is registered to Prokofyev Yaroslav, and the site is hosted on a server owned by SoftLayer Technologies Inc. This company even has a "page" on Wikipedia...

On the same server there are 17 domains... and guess the names? ang2uno.com, bevjuno.com... owned of course by Prokofyev

So this company seems to have a server dedicated to badware diffusion. I emailed them this message:

Hello,
my name is Emanuele Feronato and I recently discovered that one of your servers is hosting domains called ang2uno.com, bevjuno.com, ewbyuno.com (and so on) that are distributing badware after someone injects in various blog and forums hidden javascripts to call your pages from remote servers, with iframes pointing at (as example) http://ewbyuno.com/ld/grb/

One of my sites, emanueleferonato.com, was a "victim" of this process and now google flags it as a site that may harm your computer.

I would like to know if you are informed about it and how do you think to manage this problem.

Obviuosly I am going to explain to google and stopbadware.org what happened because I don't want my site to be flagged as badware when the threat comes from your servers.

About half of my traffic comes (came?) from Google and should it take too long to remove the badware flag I may consider legal actions.

Help needed

This is what I found today in Google search engine:

Badware

I know I shouldn't talk about attacks because it just made more attacks to happen, but this time I really don't know what to do.
I receive half of the traffic from Google and really don't know what to do.

I know my site was hacked but during the last days I manually cleaned the site.

I made all steps required on StopBadware.org but the problem still remains.

If you have any clue or should you find another harmful script from now on, can you please comment the post with your problem/opinion.

3 attacks in a week should be enough

I posted about an attack to this blog in this post, and since then I had 3 more attacks, all in the last week.

All attacks are very similar, with a php injection in the index page.

The most interesting thing is that ob_start("phpfake"); code still does not appear that much on Google, even if more than 10 days passed since I posted about it.

It's only me? I cannot believe I am the only WP blogger that faced this attack. I also updated the blog to the last version, but attacks continue.

Oh well, meanwhile I added about 10 more addresses in the mailing list you can use to submit your Flash games...

Any clue about the meaning of this expression? I googled for it but I only had results in german language.

This reminded me to make a complete backup of the blog and the database.

I try to backup the blog every week but sometimes it takes a month before I realize I must backup.

The most famous Emanuele in the world

Even if Google punished me for selling links by dropping my pagerank by 3 units (from 7 to 4, and several days after I believed I was untouchable), this didn't stop my blog to gain popularity day after day.

I don't know for how long will it last, but today if you search for "emanuele" on google.com, I am first.

This means I am the most famous Emanuele in the world. To tell you the truth, it does not mean anything, but I like to think this means I am the most famous Emanuele in the world.

All in all, being in 1st place on a search with almost 12 millions results has to be something to be proud of...

The Googlement day aka why Google dropped PR

I just wanted to play with the title of one of my favourite movies (T2 Judgement Day) to say something about what happened to most blogs and websites today.

Google updated its PageRank and it's something like the Judgement Day has come.

Most bloggers today have a PR dropped by one or even two points.

And it was very funny to read bloggers reactions: the most original title in my opinion is "Google Declares Jihad On Blog Link Farms" by TechCrunch.

I also enjoyed the reasons bloggers gave to their PR drop: "I was selling too much links", "I removed Adsense ads", "I don't wear underpants", and so on.

Last but not least, it's hilarious how bloggers saying PR was everything when they had an high PR now say thar PR does not mean anything.

Today Google reminded us who rules (ruleZ in geekish): Google itself. You can whine as much as you want, but things won't change.

Google dropped most PR because there was too much scam with high PR, and Google can't let its PR to be understimated just because some thousands of bloggers discovered how to raise PR without having content that matters.

Look at the web today: there are tons of "How to make money with internet" that does not make any money with internet and just cut/paste contents from the only 2 or 3 sites that really makes money with internet. The same content, the same banners... Google punished them all.

Another curious thing is some of the bigs names got penalized too: I mean Washington Post, Forbes, Sun Times and more... bot for those sites I think PR means nothing (this time for real).

Probably big information sites got penalized by services like Digg (PR 8) and other social bookmarking sites that allow us to read the last news in only one site.

Now it's time for us to write some fresh content: if you are a victim of the Googlement day don't whine, don't complain, don't write a post, let's say, with "5 reasons because PR means nothing" (the first should be "my PR is not high anymore")... just sit down and think about some fresh and original content.

I don't believe you walk in your real-life town screaming bullshits, so please promise you won't do it in the net anymore.

And... one last note... my PR is still 7. But my Alexa rank sucks. That's life...

Ricardo Franco Levi, Prodi’s right hand man, (Prodi is the Prime Minister here in Italy - I did not vote him and I am proud of it) undersecretary to the President of the Council, has written the text to put a stopper in the mouth of the Internet.

The draft law was approved by the Council of Ministers on 12 October. No Minister dissociated themselves from it.

The Levi-Prodi law lays out that anyone with a blog or a website has to register it with the ROC, a register of the Communications Authority, produce certificates, pay a tax, even if they provide information without any intention to make money.

This means that almost all no-profit sites (or sites with a small profit) will shut down, and the few survivors will have to pay taxes and risk to be guilty of defamatory content in accordance with articles 57 and 57 bis of the penal code (JAIL).

Obviously this blog won't close. I am planning to transfer it to a democratic State soon as possible.

Maybe I will even get some more extra bucks when I'll have to assist my customers to the "migration".

What really pisses me off is the situation. They think they can do what they please.

Anyway... do you know a good internet provider in a democratic State? It would be even better if there are no morons in charge.
