Before you start your journey into game publishing world, let me warn you: this is a theme for advanced users… I won’t explain how to install or edit a theme, and same thing for the plugins and widgets.
If you are looking for a “how to” guide, this theme is not for you. However, if you want to make a complete guide, let me know and I’ll feature you on the blog.
Now, everything you need to know:
MOTIVATION
Triqui MochiAds Arcade theme for WordPress turns your WordPress blog into an arcade site powered by MochiAds.
PLUGINS REQUIRED
In the download section you will find all necessary plugins to make the theme work properly, but if you want to download them manually or check plugins sites, here they are:
MOCHI (required): the plugin to feed games from MochiAds feed and create blog entries for each game. Visit the official page.
WP-PageNavi (highly recommended): Adds a more advanced paging navigation to your WordPress blog.
WP-PostRatings and WP-PostRatings Widget (highly recommended): respectively adds an AJAX rating system for your WordPress blog’s post/page and adds a PostRatings Widget to display most rated and/or highest rated posts and/or pages on your sidebar.
WP-PostViews and WP-PostViews Widget (highly recommended): respectively enables you to display how many times a post/page had been viewed and adds a PostViews Widget to display most viewed posts and/or pages on your sidebar.
Askimet (recommended): Akismet checks your comments against the Akismet web service to see if they look like spam or not. Very useful if you run a successful blog. Check the license conditions.
WordPress Reset (recommended): Resets the WordPress database back to it’s defaults. Deletes all customizations and content. Something like “in case of fire, break the glass”.
Anyway, I recommend to get the plugins from the download section as I modified some styles to make them have the same look & feel of the theme
KEY FEATURES
* Good-looking homepage layout like Gallery theme
* CSS only rollover effect on game selection (will release a JQuery version too during next days)
* Extremely commented css and php files
* Interesting place where to place ads
* List of all games in the footer. This may seem pointless at the moment, but with the release of the final version of the plugin you will be able to select the games you want to publish. Let me say you most MochiAds are garbage, and an arcade portal full of garbage won’t work. You’ll have to create a niche portal, such as a physic games portal, a racing games portal or a handpicked games portal. Just think about MiniClip. They put the list of all games because they haven’t a wide number of games, but they are all playable.
NEXT UPDATES
Obviously I’ll keep updating the theme, adding more and more features, and I’ll explain how to add new features in case you already customized the theme. Expect those features in the next weeks:
* “New” icon next to recently added games
* Social icons to submit games to twitter, facebook and so on
* JQuery effect on rollovers
* Any interesting feature you may suggest me

I adored you to have made available Plugin Mochi and the theme for wordpress that transforms in arcade of games. Thank you of A lot.
I am only with a problem, in the plugin he/she has the function directly of putting the games in the servant and really the games are only going to the paste mochi to love that the theme still catches the url of the you love of the mochiads, instead of diffusing locally.
He/she wanted to know this will be solved in the next version of the plugin of the mochi.

Can you use this theme for any games or does each “post” have to be from Mochi?

Ok so it seems that installing the plugin via the upload feature in wordpress fails due to the directory structure of the zip. Upload the triqui directory into your themes directory and activate it. Should work.

I’ve tried to install the plugin using the wordpress uploader and each time i try to upload the zip it comes up with this message Unable to create directory /home/a7929275/public_html/arcade/wp-content/uploads/2009/06. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

Great theme but I am having trouble displaying google ads! If I put the ad code in wp’s text widget, it shows, but ads in header.php and index.php do not show! Any help please? maybe someone here who has done it successfully can show a pre-edited header/index.php with the adsense code!
Is there anyway if we can get a feature that allow users to upload games? Like say when they upload, we can approve or not approve and then be published in a category?

Thank you so much for your hard work on this wordpress theme and mochi plugin. It has been really easy to work with and customize. Being familiar with wordpress already made the install and modifications go smoothly. I am excited to continue working with the code and modifying it further to suit my custom needs. I am glad you have released it as I was waiting to start my first portal experiments until I had a chance to try it before using other arcade scripts. I will remember the donate button if I manage to make any cash from it too! ;)

in your admin area, click Reading under the Settings Section and change “Blog pages show at most” with what you want;)
for adsense, you can add them with using Appearence-Editor thing
First thank you for this great plugin package and the theme, and the site in general.
I have a bit of a problem when I goto feeds I get an error with the default settings
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 128 bytes) in C:\xampp\htdocs\wordpress\wp-content\plugins\mochi\mochi.php on line 295.
when I changed the 2000 to 20 IT worked just fine is this a xampp problem that will not be replicated on a live site?

I noticed my AdSense clickthru rate was very high on my triqui based website, http://www.lingolux.com.
Someone pointed me to the AdSense policy of click and miss.

If your site contains elements that increase the number of ad clicks without increasing business results for the advertiser, we may consider these clicks to be invalid. “Business results” can range from an online sale to a page view. If we detect enough of these clicks and determine that the risk to our advertisers is too great, we may disable the account.”
Scary stuff!!! although Armor Games have 2 adverts immediately above and below their games i don’t want to fall foul of Google as there isn’t many good alternatives to them!
So i have added a margin of 50px to my adsense advert on my games page to help prevent click and miss.
It may be worth considering this for future versions of your theme?

Yours only show 10 thumbnails max is because your setting for blog pages show at most is 10 posts.
Go to Settings > Reading, and change the value of blog pages show at most, for example 60 posts, and don’t forget to update this settings by clicking save changes button ;)

you got some really admirable programming skills and have a great blog from which I already learned quite a few things from and still have many many things to learn. Please keep up your excellent work!
I spend the last two days in installing and customizing your MochiAds theme and plugin. The result can be seen here: http://best-flash-games.org
As soon as I make some money out of it, you will definatly get a donation from me!
In that time I stumbled upon some minor bugs, one in the theme, one in the plugin.
The bug in the theme resulted from an update of the wp-postratings plugin, which is used in your theme.
In its new version wp-postratings inserts its javascript code in the footer and not the header anymore. Hence you have to call wp_footer(); in the footer.php right before the closing body tag or the rating won’t work.

Greet theme, but i hope you will upgrade/update the theme in the future with a funtion that it will download the thumbnails too. Google is now using the speed of a website to use in it’s rankings, connecting/pulling it of mochiads makes it slow, i would like the thumbnails te be hosted, but can’t script.
I hope you will fix this in the future!
