BUG FIX: Match 3 Bejeweled HTML5 prototype built with Phaser updated to Phaser 3 adding object pooling and using ECMA Script 6 conventions – swipe routine fixed

Some time ago I published a Bejeweled prototype built with Phaser 3 featuring object pooling and ES6 conventions.

It’s not my latest update in the matcBejeweled tutorial series as now I am using a pure JavaScript class to handle Bejeweled-like games, but it’s the most complete example of input handling since players are able to swap gems both by clicking or tapping on two gems and by dragging a gem.

These two ways to handle input had a bug, as a blog reader reported, because when you tap on a gem to select it and then swipe another gem next to the selected gem, then couple of gems blend in with one another and some gems disappear.

You can try it by yourself in the original post.

Obviously I had to fix it because I am using this way to handle input in my JavaScript class too, so here it is the fixed version:

Now you can play Bejeweled selecting gems both by clicking or tapping on them and by swiping on them.

No bugs anymore.

I just moved line 133 to line 156 to set this.dragging to false in the proper place, inside swapGems method.

Next time I’ll merge this way to handle input with the pure JavaScript class to show you the final prototype, meanwhile this is the fixed source code.
